Screen time you earn, not screen time that evaporates
Tempo locks the apps that eat your days — Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit — and reopens them only with minutes of real movement. Your workouts and steps, read from Apple Health or Health Connect, fill a balance of screen minutes at the rate you set. While the balance holds, everything opens. At zero, everything shuts again.
Your workouts are the currency
One minute of exercise buys one, two or three minutes of screen — you set the exchange rate. Workouts typed in by hand don't count.
There is no way around it
No ignore button, no emergency exit, no code to type. On iPhone, iOS itself enforces the re-lock — even when Tempo is closed.
Nothing leaves your phone
No account, no server, no trackers. The App Store listing carries the “Data Not Collected” label.

Why it's on a streaming site
Fair question. Tempo blocks distracting apps, and we spend our days in front of a screen — on purpose, that's the job. But the app that steals the afternoon is rarely the game. It's the forty minutes of scrolling between two sessions, the phone picked up during a loading screen and put back down twenty minutes later.
Tempo doesn't ask you to play less. You choose exactly which apps it locks — leave the games out of it. It just makes the rest cost something: a bit of movement, for people whose job is to sit down.
